Seymone (C-Mone) Kelly
Author, poet and screenwriter are all titles under Seymone Kelly’s belt. From Harlem, New York, Seymone has used her community around her to broaden her capabilities.
As an author, she has published three urban fiction books called “Kared and Shyann: A Harlem Love Affair (1 & 2)” and “Caine and Athalia: Loving on the Low.” And one children’s book called, “Joyner and Magical’s Big Dreams.”
As a poet, she has performed on numerous stages including the Harlem Arts Festival in 2016. Also Seymone wrote the “Interlude” on Dave East’s EP called “Karma 2” in 2018.
As a screenwriter, it has awarded her with opportunities for her films and visuals to be selected into film festivals. Her film “HOMI3S” was selected into the Uptown Culture Film Festival and won two awards. Seymone’s mini-series “Imani” stars actor Danny Johnson, who is currently in the CBS drama “The Equalizer” with Queen Latifah.
#Storiesbysey was created in 2021 as a series of poems and stories. Each month produced a new visual. “I Am A Woman,” was separate from the #storiesbysey series but another visual Seymone did that year. This visual featured over 25 women from her community. It was selected into the Queens Underground Film Festival. Her visual “Where I’m From” which is about Harlem was selected into The People’s Film Festival.
Outside of writing, Seymone is a part of the African-American Day Parade committee. AADP is the largest and longest African-American parade in this country. In June 2023, she was a Talent Assistant at the American Black Film Festival. Also in November 2023, she volunteered for the Urbanworld Film Festival.
As for her educational background, she has her Bachelor's Degree in English/Journalism and Master's Degree in Public Administration with a Specialization in Nonprofit Management and Leadership.
Seymone has accomplished many things in her writing career and still continues to create to this day.
